Lovely October 4, 2009

Let me ask a question, a very simple one. You may not understand at first, but you will when I’m done. See I’m trying to explain that Jesus loves the simple, the beautiful, and the plain.
What does Jesus look like? Not a very common question, for people just assume it didn’t matter how he was dressing. If Jesus was REALLY perfect, then so must have been His body. A very beautiful temple, indeed it was pure and holy. And what about His face? Surely it wasn’t frightening, so many people followed Him, It must have been enlightening. His eyes! How they must have sparkled! That much you can expect. For he was God. God He was. Enough to be said. And what of His smile? I’m sure it came easily. He must have been good at joking and even playful teasing!
Genesis 1:27 says… SO God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.
God made medium, big, and small. He hand crafted and shaped us all. So if anyone ever calls you ugly, Just remember that GOD says you’re lovely!

Hannah Montana The Movie June 4, 2009

I went and saw that hannah montannah movie a few weeks ago. I thought that it was pretty good. The big speculation was that she stops being Hannah Montanah, but she stays doing both (sorry to spoil it if you haven’t seen it.) The whole movie she is trying to figure out who she really is. Is she Hannah, or is she Miley? She has to figure out where she fits between the two. It really makes me thankful that my true identity is know only to God and that is all that matters. Therefore I can be secure.

Belize Mission Trip Update March 27, 2009

First of all I wood like to thank everyone who has already donated money for my trip to Belize. I would also like to thank you all for praying for our team as we prepare for this exciting adventure
Second, I would like to inform you all of an answer to prayer, This past week, one of the ladies who is helping to coordinate this trip found some VERY cheap airline tickets. The estimated cost of the airline tickets to start out with was $750.00, but she managed to purchase all of them for $260.00!! Praise the Lord! This, as you might have noticed, saves us A LOT on travel costs!
Thank you again for your support, and if you still wish to donate please visit theconnectiochurch.org/onlinegive.html Thanks!

Belizean adventure! March 16, 2009

I have been given the opportunity to travel to Belize with an organization called PALMS (Puppets Administering the Lords Message of Salvation.) The trip will be from June 6 to June 12. We are going to be exploring the jungle and bringing God’s message of salvation to school children in the “back woods” of Belize through puppet shows. We will also get to communicate with these children one to one while we are visiting their schools. One of our team leaders, Kamala Lewis will also perform dental clinics to help the uninsured children of that country.
I joined this puppet group in September of 2008. Since then we have done about 8 shows for the children’s ministry at our church (The Connection Church) and a Christmas show at the Hill Country Christian School. I have been learning puppeteering skills from Tim and Kamala Lewis. They started this puppet team in 2002 and have taken the team to Belize once. (This summer will be the second time.) To learn more about them, the puppet team, and see a few past performances, you can visit palmspuppeteer.wordpress.com .
I am going to Belize this summer because I want to make a difference in a child’s life that might not otherwise hear God’s message of salvation. I want to show them that there are people who care about them. These children do not live as privileged a life as we do in America. They can not enjoy some of the everyday things that you and I take for granted. I also want this trip to change my view of other countries and peoples and their lifestyles. I want to learn to love each and every one of them, to value them as precious children of God. I want to love them like God loves them.
I would like to ask you to pray for some specific things as I prepare to take this trip.
• The health of each and every person traveling with the PALMS team. Also that Asthma would not burden me in the humid climate. Job 21:24 CEV reminds us that we can be… “enjoying good health.” 
• The “Good health” of the “Hundred year-old” bus that will be carting us around.
• Belizean children to be saved. 2 Peter 3:9 b “God is patient, because he wants everyone to turn from sin and no one to be lost.”
• The lives of the puppeteers to be changed in positive ways.
• All of my team mates and I as we strive to raise our sponsorship.
• Open hearts and ears to receive the message we are bringing.
I must raise the total sum of $1385.00 by May 17, 2009. The balance of $750.00 is due on April 5, 2009 to purchase airline tickets, but the sooner the better – right now prices are low. Please pray about supporting me financially. I know how big that number seems. I have never raised that much money before, but Philippians 4:13 says, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” I would also like to add that this amount covers the whole trip including, food, lodging, airline tickets, and transportation. Please talk and pray about this. I will be sending out rubber wrist bands that say “PALMS puppets Belize 09” to anyone who will partner with me for $25 or more. You can use this bracelet as a reminder to pray for me while I’m in Belize and they’re really cool! I’ll post more on local fundraisers on my blog.  Oh, and my dad is traveling with us too, so he’s raising support. Pray for him as well!

Thank you for considering supporting my trip to Belize, but most of all praying for me as I embark on this new adventure.

Waiting for yesterday February 21, 2009

Demi Floria here, and heres’ a new devo.
How long do you have to wait for this time tomorrow? 24 hours right? It is a scientific fact that no matter what time of the day it is, in 24 hours it will be exactly the same time. If you know this then you can make plans, you can set up appointments, you can prepare something for tomorrow. And no matter what you do today, tomorrow is going to be hear in exactly 24 hours. Period.
So say you messed up REALLY bad yesterday. I mean you totally blew it! Friendships have been torn apart, feelings been crushed, and esteem been lowered. You’ve appologized, you’ve felt really guilty,You’ve even lost sleep over it, but it dosnt seem to be going away. You feel it hanging over your head, and it feels like no one cares. What comes next?
Well Tomorrow. Tomorrows’ what comes next. Not yesterday. Yesterday is gone and no matter what you did yesterday tomorrow is still coming. Period. Maybe you feel like you can’t face tomorrow. Maybe you can’t face yourself, or maybe you think that Gods’ mad at you. But the truth is that you have to let go of yesterday. Because yesterday is gone and what you did can’t be changed. There is no point in waiting for yesterday because yesterday is gone and tomorrow is what’s next.Period. Lamentations 3:23 says The LORD can always be trusted to show mercy each morning.
So each morning you get another try. there is no need to worry about yesterday because tomorrow you get to start over. God forgives all of your sins each morning if you will just ask Him.
So i am challenging you to let go of yesterday and tomorrow just start over and let God deal with the rest.
Well this is Demi Floria challenging you to get groovy with God.

Mohatma Gandhi once said

“I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ.”

That is all too often true.

One of my favorite songs says let me shine like the moon a reflection of you!

Let me shine like the moon!

Stainless December 30, 2008

This is my first devo to be posted so tell me what you think.

 Stainless

Have you ever heard those commercials about stainless steal appliances? Or a stainless bracelet or stainless steal knives? The sales people on the other end of those commercials scream things at us like, “They never rust,” “They’ll never were down.”  But, a lot of times those items that the sales people are trying to sell us aren’t as good as they make them sound. Well I know someone who is giving away a free stainless item that has an eternity guarantee. His name is Jesus.

When God in the flesh whose name is Jesus came to earth 2,000 years ago, he came for a purpose he had a goal and he was determined to accomplish it.  His goal was to establish a way for anyone who believed in Him to get to heaven.  When Jesus died on the cross as the perfect sacrifice for all man kind, He did something else too. Ever wonder what happened those three days between when Jesus died and when he  came back to life? Something happened. Somehow he got rid of all that sin of the whole wide world that had been cast upon him when he died as a sacrifice. But what? Well let’s see what the scriptures have to say about this…

Isa 14:9  The world of the dead eagerly waits for you. With great excitement, the spirits of ancient rulers hear about your coming.

Isa 14:10  Each one of them will say, “Now you are just as weak as any of us!

Isa 14:15  But now you are deep in the world of the dead.

Isa 14:16  Those who see you will stare and wonder, “Is this the man who made the world tremble and shook up kingdoms?

In this passage Isaiah was talking about Jesus. He was saying that after Jesus died on the cross he was going to descend down to Sheol or in other words Hell. Jesus has been to Hell. Wow that is amazing to think of. My Jesus, The king of the universe the God who created Heaven and earth and every piece of matter cared about me enough to go to Hell to get rid of my sin.

So maybe you’re thinking that hell doesn’t sound like it is that bad. Well Jesus went there and came back so how bad can it be? Let me set you straight.

Mat 5:29  If your right eye causes you to sin, poke it out and throw it away. It is better to lose one part of your body, than for your whole body to end up in hell.

Mat 5:30  If your right hand causes you to sin, chop it off and throw it away! It is better to lose one part of your body, than for your whole body to be thrown into hell.

So this is saying that it is better to cut off your hand and through it away so that it won’t mess up the rest of your body than to keep it and have it cause you to go to Hell. That ought to show you how bad Hell is. But never-the-less Jesus went there. So that is what Jesus did those three days between when died and came back to life. He took our sins, the whole world’s sins to hell. Because of this we are able to be washed in the blood of Jesus. We are washed as white and clean as fresh fallen snow. What does fresh fallen snow look like? Well if the sun is shining on it, it looks pretty shiny, it reflects the light of the sun. What else have we talked about that is shiny and pure? Stainless steel. Stainless steel is the purest of pure metals. To make stainless steel, you have to blow oxygen through the metal to bubble out all of the impurities.  That’s kind of like what Jesus does to us when we accept into our lives. He breaths the breath of life into us and bubbles out all of the impurities and we become the purest of pure. We become stainless. The crimson stain of sin is washed white as snow. And there is no sin too great to be washed clean. Period. Don’t let yourself fall into the lie that you have sinned too much for God to forgive you because he can.

I have a stainless bracelet that I were all the time just as a reminder that I have been made stainless. And that God loves me. I hope that I have been able to inspire you to take advantage of the free gift you have been given.

Thanx! That’s all!   ~DCFloria7
