Haiti, The nation that shook the World

As, I’m sure you already know, January 12 brought a very unexpected and unwelcome surprise to the small island nation of Haiti. An earthquake, measuring 7.1 on the Richter scale shook this nation to pieces, literally. Government officials now say that the death tole has reached up to 100,000 and more deaths are likely to occur due to dehydration, starvation, and fatal injuries that are now incurable because of their lack of needed medical supplies and doctors. Many rescue teams and surgeons are now leaving Haiti because they don’t think that there is anything else they can do for these dying people. In a few months there will be hardly anyone left who are just there to help. But, these people are going to need our help for months to come. They have no running water, electricity, of shelter to sit under. There is virtually no infrastructure left and it is going to take a long time to re-build such a devastated country. A great organization that is doing all they can to help Haiti and continue to help them in the future as they look towards re-building, is Compassion Radio. They have already put teams on the ground, and are working with many other organizations to organize more teams and supplies that are being sent to Haiti. Welcome to FromKidsForKids!

Who are you, and What are you doing?

My name is Demi Floria, I am an eighth grade home-school student, with a great family of 6 (including me) surrounding me. My youngest brother is 1 year old, my next brother is 9, and my sister is 11.

This is my standpoint on religion and Christianity. I believe with all my heart that Jesus Christ came to earth roughly 2000 years ago, died on a cross to pay for the sins of all men and women, and rose from the dead after three days. I accepted Christ as my Savior and want to share that joy with kids and teens my age, through my writing and the testimony I can give of a loving, caring God.

My goal with this website is to give kids and teens my age a place to go and talk about things they are facing and give them Godly answers to tough questions. Eventually, I will get my Devotions recorded and post them as podcasts so that you can download them in a user friendly way. Please feel free to share your questions and comments on the Q and A page, and enjoy the devos, poems, and “Random Babblings” ;-) Also, send me some feed-back! I would love to hear what kids out there have to say!
